After Nephi died, Jacob kept the history. He wrote things that are “most precious” to “hand them down from generation to generation.” We all need to keep a history of our lives to pass down our stories to our children. Talk about the importance of family history. Use the family tree provided in your materials and draw members of your family in the boxes.
Consider telling a story and showing a picture of each member of the family as the kids draw in their family tree.
A great way to apply the importance of keeping a record is to keep a journal yourself. Use a journal cover and glue it onto a notebook. Use the 30 days of journal prompts to help you set a goal as a family to write in your journal every day.
The man and wife paper prop in your materials is for a bonus activity. Color and decorate the figures. Read and discuss Jacob 2 and teach that marriage is between a man and woman. You can also use The Family Proclamation to teach this principle.
See your summary sheet for a QR code to a watch a video about strengthening our faith. Read Jacob 4:6 and discuss how we can build our faith.
