June 7 – June 13 Come Follow Me Lesson for Kids: That Which Cometh From Above Is Sacred

Toddler Come Follow Me Activity

Have a discussion about repentance. Read D&C 63:15. God had told us to “repent speedily.” This means that we should not wait to repent. Play the “Repent Speedily Raceway Game.” Make an indoor or outdoor racetrack. If indoors make sure it is away from furniture. Have one person hold up the traffic signs one at a time. “Go” means race around the track. “Stop” means stop racing. “Flat Tire” means pump up your tire before racing again (move hands up and down from knees to waist 3 times). And “Oil Spill” means spin in a circle three times before racing again. Whoever makes it around the track 3 times first wins! Play multiple times taking turns holding the signs.

Simplified Come Follow Me Activity

Read D&C 63:44. Discuss things that are sacred. Examples could include temples, our body, the chapel, the Lord’s name, etc. Talk about how we should treat these sacred things with reverence. Complete the “Color By Number Sacred Things Page.”

Standard Come Follow Me Activities

CREATE IT ACTIVITY:

Read D&C 63:22-23. Let each person take a drink of water. Ask what they think it would feel like if they didn’t have anything to drink for several days. Just like our bodies need water, our spirits need the knowledge of God. Create the “Well of Water Craft.” Teach that God wants us to learn more of Him and from Him

SURPRISE ACTIVITY:

Read the quote from Elder Holland in the Come Follow Me Manual for Individuals and Families on page 101. Define what it means to lust after something. To help children understand this concept, show them a candy or treat they really want. Ask them how they might act if they wanted this candy. Let them show you. Explain that they are lusting for the treat. Read D&C 63:16-18. Use the “Clean Thoughts Wheel” to help have a discussion on how we can keep our thoughts clean and pure.
