Begin the lesson by playing two truths and a lie. After the game explain that some people try to teach false doctrine and we need to be like Gideon and stand for the truth.
Let each child decorate a defenders of righteousness badge. As they put on the badge have them repeat “I can stand for the right.”
Read Alma 1:25 and discuss how Gideon and several people with him stood standfast even though they were persecuted. Use the religious freedom puzzles to go through other examples from the scriptures and church history of people who defended religious beliefs and stood for the right. Let the children color the puzzles then cut them out and scramble them up to find the correct matches.
You can use the 11th article of faith coloring page at the end of the lesson or save it for a bonus activity later in the week.
We’ve included a mini lesson on “bear”ing your testimony to use as a bonus activity. Choose the bear activities that best fit your family.
Use the true disciple sort to help your family understand the difference between setting your heart on riches and the things of Christ.
See your summary page for more details on the lesson and bonus activities to do this week.
