Enter into the Rest of the Lord

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 26 | June 24-30 | Alma 13-16

Having finished their missionary message to the people of Ammonihah, Alma and Amulek were thrown into prison. Though they were smitten and mocked for their faith, they did not fear. They knew that God was still with them. In time, they were freed from their bonds in a show of God’s power that left no room for doubt.

Alma himself testified of the peace that awaited those who spent their lives in service to God, declaring that “they might enter into the rest of the Lord (Alma 13:16). We can also trust in the Lord to bring us comfort in this life and in the life to come as we strive to lead our families in righteousness. Regardless of the trials ahead of us, our faith in God will bring us inevitable peace, joy, and rest.

Flashlight Activity!

Hands-On Activity

Prepare your priesthood light bulbs for your activity. Grab a flashlight and dim the lights. You’ll be teaching by flashlight tonight! Read or summarize Alma 13:1-19 for your family. Give everyone a light bulb priesthood quote and discuss. Then use your flashlight to go on your “Priesthood Light Scavenger Hunt!”

Faith Puzzle

Surprise Activity

Cut apart the puzzle pieces and then have your family put the puzzle together. See if they can guess what story the picture is about. Read Alma 15:3-12 together and talk about Zeezrom’s great faith and the power of God to heal through men on earth, like Alma.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams. The toddler bundle Includes a full lesson plan with THREE activities that align with scripture written by an early childhood educator. These include a coloring page, another printable activity, and a movement activity that helps young children understand the scriptures. Here are a couple of highlights from this week’s lesson.

Break Free of the Fort

Go & Do Activity

Alma and Almulek were righteous men. They taught about God. People and leaders at the time did not like that, so they threw them in prison. In the scriptures, Alma 14:17-18, 26-28 we learn that they “broke free” with God’s help. Read these verses aloud to your family. God gave them the power to escape because of their great faith. To make this story come to life, build a fort with your family. It can be out of couch cushions, blankets draped over chairs or giant building blocks. Then, put a child inside the fort and let them break free like Alma and Amulek did. As they do they can shout out loud, “When I have faith in God, He will help me break free from my trials.” Build the fort again and repeat until each child in the family has had a turn.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.
