I Will Make an Instrument of Thee

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 27 | July 1-7 | Alma 17-22

Too often we doubt our own role in the Lord’s vineyard, telling ourselves our efforts to reach out to others won’t make a difference, or we’ll just be rejected. Many Nephites told Ammon that his brothers would have no success as missionaries to the Lamanites, but Ammon chose to have faith and go forth serving those he came across. Through his humble service to King Lamoni, the Lord softened the hearts of thousands.

This week’s lessons are a little different to help tell the story of Ammon to your children. From making maps of missionary adventures to using storytelling puppets, each day of the week has a different activity that will teach your kids about the joy of sharing the gospel.

Access inspiring lessons that teach straight from the scriptures and include everything you need to make Come, Follow Me a joy for your kids. THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

The elementary bundle is a treasure trove for kids aged 4-11, featuring activities that instill key principles. Let’s explore three highlights:

Scripture Puppets!

Scripture Study

Before you start your reading today, have each child color and make the Ammon and King Lamoni Puppets. You can choose to do one set for your family and take turns or make a set for each individual. Read Alma 18, using the verses key at the bottom of the instruction page. Let your children hold up their stick puppet when either Ammon or King Lamoni are talking.

Story Map

Hands-On Activity

Begin by showing your children several different maps. Explain that using a map when we read can help us better understand the story. Give each child a Map to Middoni. To help them follow along with the story, have them draw or write the things that happen along the way to Middoni. Let each child share what they drew at the end.

Children of God

Scripture Study

Start by singing “I Am a Child of God.” Discuss how this is often the first truth of the gospel a child learns. Explain that in today’s chapter, Aaron teaches basic truths of the gospel to King Lamoni’s Father. Read Alma 22 together. When you are finished, color the “Aaron Teaches the King” coloring page.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams. The toddler bundle Includes a full lesson plan with THREE activities that align with scripture written by an early childhood educator. These include a coloring page, another printable activity, and a movement activity that helps young children understand the scriptures. Here are a couple of highlights from this week’s lesson.

Missionary Playdough

Go & Do Activity

Prepare by identifying a missionary you know and gather stories, pictures, and videos about his/her mission. Learn a few details about the culture where they serve, such as their food and clothing. Summarize Aaron’s experience preaching among the Amalekites from Alma 21:17, and explain how missionaries today are doing similar work. Using the playdough and “Missionary Playdough Mat activity” from the lesson, share stories of missionaries and let your child create playdough pieces that represent the places and cultures where these missionaries serve. Emphasize that you don’t need to be on a mission to share Jesus’ teachings and encourage them to think of someone they can serve or reach out to this week. End with a family prayer and act on the prompting to help someone.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.
