“The Great Plan of Happiness”

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 32 | August 5-11 | Alma 39-42

One of Alma’s most important teachings in the Book of Mormon was taught to his son, Corianton. In helping his son seek repentance for his sins, Alma shared Corianton’s role in the Plan of Happiness. Corianton needed to use his life to make good choices to truly understand that “wickedness never was happiness” (Alma 41:10).

Choosing the right is key for all families as we walk the path that leads to our heavenly home. As we teach our children about how the Plan of Happiness brings us joy when we choose the right, they will feel prompted to be a little kinder and a little more helpful in our homes.

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities​

This week is a little different than most weeks. We wanted to help your family dive into the chapters for this week and really search, study and ponder the lessons you can find. We have made a “Search, Ponder & Play Journal” to help you do just that. Print the pages double-sided (flip on the short side), fold them together and staple them. Make a journal for each of your children, grab a pen or pencil and gather together to learn and grow together! You can do this journal in one sitting with your whole family, do one page a day, or do the first page together with your family to model and explain how to do it and

then let older children continue to fill in the journal on their own. This is meant to be a special experience for your children studying these beautiful truths and pondering each of them while having some fun!

The journal is set up so that you:

SEARCH: read and study specific verses.

PONDER: think about what you read/studied as you listen to a song or video and discuss what you learn, then pray about it and draw/write what you learned in your journal.

PLAY: do a fun activity to help you better understand and remember the principle you learned about.

This lesson’s activities include: 

• a special hand-washing song with “Soap Wrapper”
• “I Can Repent Activity,” “Good Example Charades” and “Plan of Happiness Board Game”.

Resurrection Rolls

Hands-On Activity

The scriptures in Alma 40:6-7, 11-14, 21-23 teach us that after we die our spirits go to the spirit world and our body stays on earth. To help your toddlers visualize this truth, make the “Resurrection Rolls” together. As you eat them, use the “Body and Spirit Object Lesson” to teach what resurrection means. You can also show pictures of loved ones who have passed on and bear your testimony and knowledge of resurrection.
