Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 37 | September 9-15 | Helaman 13-16
Prophets are often called to warn of the dangers of leaving the covenant path. However, like Samuel the Lamanite, they are also called to proclaim “glad tidings of great joy” (Helaman 16:14). Reflecting on recent General Conference addresses by President Russell M. Nelson, there have been many warnings and tidings of great joy that the prophet has proclaimed. Each one is a personal message from the Lord sent through His servant.
When we listen to the prophet’s voice, we are listening to the Lord. Jesus Christ knows of our struggles that we endure each day. Following His guidance through the prophet will help us find peace and lasting happiness.
Come Follow Me FHE lessons teach prophetic principles straight from the scriptures. Each lesson includes everything you need to make Come, Follow Me fun for your kids! THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS
Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities
This week, teach your children the chapters of Alma 43-52. You will find an activity book for your children (one for ages 3-6 and one for ages 7+). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge to keep it together. Make one book for each of your children (see lesson for details).
Scripture Sorting
Scripture Study
Samuel describes the signs of Christ’s birth and death. He did this so they could know of His coming and believe who He is. Read Helaman 14:2-6, 20-28. Sort the images from the “Signs of Christ’s Birth and Death” activity page and work to learn the things Samuel teaches so your children can develop greater faith in Him.
Marshmallow Slingshot!
Hands-On Activity
Samuel the Lamanite was brave as he invited people to repent. He was forbidden to enter into the cities, so he stood upon the walls and told them “glad tidings.” Make this fun “Marshmallow Shooter Slingshot” and use it to reenact Helaman 13:1-6. Help your child think about ways modern prophets have asked to repent, grow and change.
Actions of a Prophet
Surprise Activity
Neil L. Andersen said, “A prophet does not stand between you and the Savior. Rather, he stands beside you and points the way to the Savior.” In Helaman 13, we learn how Samuel tried to do just that. Take turns using the “Prophets Point Me To Jesus Christ” spinner and read recent invitations from President Russell M. Nelson of actions we can take to bring us closer to Him.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities
For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.
This week, we’ll be sharing the gospel with your little ones using the activity book in the Elementary Bundle. Be sure to use the activity book for younger children (Level 1, Recommended for ages 3-6). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge. Make one book for each of your children.
Stepping Stone Warning
Go & Do Activity
Heavenly Father instructs prophets to warn us of things to come. If we listen, we will be blessed for our obedience. Play the “Floor is Lava” with your child as you pretend to be the prophet warning your child that the floor is going to turn into lava. Print and cut out the stepping stones on cardstock and then laminate each one for durability. On each stone is something prophets have asked us to do. Place them around your living room. You might choose to stand on a chair or bench as you call out the instructions like Samuel did. Let your child walk around the room, and after a few seconds have passed call out, “The floor is lava!” As quickly as they can, your child needs to stand on the nearest stepping stone to avoid being in the lava. Have them look down at the picture on the stepping stone and discuss its meaning. Repeat, having your child find a new stepping stone to land on.
The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.
