Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 38 | September 16-22 | 3 Nephi 1-7

No one should ever be persecuted or bullied for their personal beliefs, yet that is exactly what the wicked Nephites did to those who believed in Christ. Many signs and wonders were given to support the faithful in their trials, who were rewarded for their faith when the sign of the Savior’s birth was seen by everyone throughout the land (3 Nephi 1:15-21).

As the Nephites grew more and more wicked, they grew “hard-hearted” and lost the value that comes from witnessing the fulfillment of prophecies. Meanwhile, those who believed were of good cheer and found joy in seeing the Lord “fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets” (3 Nephi 1:13). We, too, can strive to be of good cheer when waiting on the Lord to reward our faith.

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities​

This week, teach your children the chapters of Alma 43-52. You will find an activity book for your children (one for ages 3-6 and one for ages 7+). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge to keep it together. Make one book for each of your children (see lesson for details).

Prophecies Fulfilled

Scripture Study

Prophets prophesied of things to come and spoke to the Nephites about signs of Christ’s birth. One major prophecy that was fulfilled is when a new star appeared the night of His birth. Read 3 Nephi 1 as you discuss the signs of Jesus’ birth and complete the “Signs of Christ’s Birth Scene.”

Stronger Together

Hands-On Activity

There were many wars and contentions because of the Gadianton robbers. Many Lamanites united with the Nephites for the safety of their families. Read 3 Nephi 2:11-12 and perform the Stronger Together Object Lesson showing the importance of gathering together and supporting one another in unity.

Steadfast in Ice

Surprise Activity

Read 3 Nephi 6:14. Emphasize how disciples of Christ are firm, steadfast and immovable. Try the fun Instant Ice Pillar Experiment as you relate how freezing ice is immovable. Over time it may melt, but it requires temperatures cold enough to keep it firm. Discuss things you can do to keep yourself firm, steadfast and immovable as His disciple.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities​

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

This week, we’ll be sharing the gospel with your little ones using the activity book in the Elementary Bundle. Be sure to use the activity book for younger children (Level 1, Recommended for ages 3-6). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge. Make one book for each of your children.

I am Like a Star

Go & Do Activity

Hide the star puzzle pieces around the room. Tell your child that prophets told the Nephites about something that would happen so they would know Jesus was born. They told them that there would be a bright, shining star in the sky the night Jesus came into this world. Read 3 Nephi 1:21. Have them find the puzzle pieces and put together the star puzzle. Teach your child that what the prophets said was true! Play the song, “I Am Like A Star” from the Children’s Songbook (pg. 163). Invite your child to jump around the room while the song is playing, reaching their hands up like they are trying to grab stars in the sky. Pause the music occasionally and have them freeze in a star position with arms and feet stretched out when the music stops. Have them say, “I am like a star!” as their body is frozen. Afterward, teach your child how the sign of Jesus’ birth was a light in the sky because He is the Light of the World. Discuss with your child ways they can be a light to others as a sign that they know and love Jesus.
