“Arise and Come Forth Unto Me”

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 39 | September 23-29 | 3 Nephi 8–11

He has come! As the introduction to the Book of Mormon says, “The crowning event recorded in the Book of Mormon is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the Nephites soon after His resurrection.” This moment was the fulfillment of the words of Christ Himself when He told His apostles he must visit the sheep “that are not of this fold” (John 10:16).

After days of darkness and destruction, the Nephites were overjoyed by the Savior’s appearance. He immediately saw to their spiritual needs, bringing light and life back into their lives. We, too, can have the Savior’s healing light in our own lives as we stay true to Him during our own moments of darkness.

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

This week, teach your children the chapters of Alma 43-52. You will find an activity book for your children (one for ages 3-6 and one for ages 7+). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge to keep it together. Make one book for each of your children (see lesson for details).

Make Your Map

Scripture Study

Use the world map to teach your child that although the Nephites did not see the crucifixion of Christ, there were signs. Read or listen to 3 Nephi 8 as your children use playdough to create some of the signs that are talked about in the scriptures. For example, a thunderstorm. Place the playdough creations on the map so they are visible to where the Nephites could have seen them.

Word Scramble

Go & Do Activity

Jesus gave Nephi power to baptize. He invites all to repent of their sins and be baptized. Read 3 Nephi 11:21-26 as a family. Baptism is an essential ordinance in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Grab some cones and challenge each other in a gross motor “Fourth Article of Faith Scramble.” See the Go & Do page in the lesson for details.

Christ Descending

Hands-On Activity

The central event in the Book of Mormon occurs in 3 Nephi 11: 7-11 when Christ visits the Americas. Assemble the “Christ Descending” string pull activity. As you read, use this activity to depict Christ descending out of the heavens toward the people. Display the “I Am The Light of the World” poster in a picture frame this week to serve as a reminder that Jesus is our light.

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

This week, we’ll be sharing the gospel with your little ones using the activity book in the Elementary Bundle. Be sure to use the activity book for younger children (Level 1, Recommended for ages 3-6). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge. Make one book for each of your children.

Baptism By Water

Hands-On Activity

Even though your child is still young, help increase their excitement for baptism through this activity. Describe to your child how Jesus came and visited the Nephites. Say, “Jesus came down from heaven and told the people to “Arise and come forth,” which means He wanted them to come and see Him. After the people touched Him, the first thing He told them was “repent and be baptized!” Read 3 Nephi 11:23. Ask, “Do you think that baptism is important if that is the first thing that He wanted them to do?” Yes! We must be baptized and make our bodies and hearts clean before we get to live with Heavenly Father again. Describe what baptism is. Then, make the baptism craft together. Get an 8 oz. styrofoam or plastic cup. Wrap the paper water around the cup and glue it together. Attach the figures to the top of a popsicle stick. Make a slit in the bottom of the cup for the popsicle stick to slide in. Have your child move the stick up and down inside the cup, having the child go “under” the water representing the child being baptized by immersion.

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.
