“Ye Are the Children of the Covenant”

Come Follow Me Lessons & Activities for Kids Lesson 42 | October 14-20 | 3 Nephi 20–26

Before concluding His ministry with the Nephites, Jesus Christ taught of the covenant that will bring peace to all who follow Him. He taught the Nephites His commandments that, if they kept, would help them stay close to Him. It is in making and keeping these covenants that unite the House of Israel across the world. Jesus promises that if we keep our covenants, “My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed” (3 Nephi 22:10).

THIS WEEK’S COME FOLLOW ME HIGHLIGHTS

Elementary Bundle Lessons & Activities

This week, teach your children the chapters of Alma 43-52. You will find an activity book for your children (one for ages 3-6 and one for ages 7+). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge to keep it together. Make one book for each of your children (see lesson for details).

Tithing and Blessings

Scripture Study

Throughout time, God’s people have been commanded to pay tithes. Study 3 Nephi 24:7-12. Help your family to see why we’ve been asked to pay tithing. Use the “1/10 Counting Sheet” to show your child what we’ve been asked to give. Emphasize the blessings we receive for doing so. You might consider teaching your child how to use a tithing slip!

Search the Scriptures!

Go & Do Activity

From 3 Nephi 23:1, we learn that God wants us to search the scriptures. Dive into the scriptures with the “Book of Mormon Scavenger Hunt!” Use the checklist to search for words, items, references and illustrations to find throughout the book. Help your family see just how special and important the scriptures are.

Purpose in Prayer

Scripture Study

The Savior instructs us to search the scriptures and hearken unto His words in 3 Nephi 23:1, 5. Let the scriptures be a tool to help you be successful in understanding the Book of Mormon Mad Gab scripture phrases. If you can’t understand or “hearken” to the phrase being said, turn to the scriptures and search, search, search!

Toddler Bundle Lessons & Activities

For kids ages 1-4 at home and in nursery or sunbeams.

This week, we’ll be sharing the gospel with your little ones using the activity book in the Elementary Bundle. Be sure to use the activity book for younger children (Level 1, Recommended for ages 3-6). Print your activity book pages, then cut all of them in half, except the cover. You will fold the cover in half to help keep the pages together. Put all your pages in order inside the cover and then staple along the left-hand edge. Make one book for each of your children.

Edible Family Tree

Hands-On Activity

Print, and laminate “My Edible Family Tree” mats for your child to create an edible family tree. Prepare for this activity by gathering some Oreos or round shortbread cookies, frosting and cookie toppings like sprinkles, pretzels, mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and more. Read 3 Nephi 25:5-6. Explain how to turn the hearts of the children to their father means to think and learn about our family. Place the mat in front of your child. Starting with themselves, have them place their Oreo or cookie in their photo frame. Cover with frosting and add toppings to make the cookie look like their face. Mini chocolate chips or pretzels work great for hair. Slice a chocolate chip in half for a nose, and use colored sprinkles for eyes, etc. Move down your family line as you teach your child about the generations of people in their family. Tell them a special fact about their family member as they make them out of a cookie. When you’re all finished filling your frames, enjoy the scrumptious snacks you created!

The toddler bundle includes a lesson plan and three activities every week. Grab the toddler bundle in our subscription.
